GRAND SEIKO AT DESIGN MIAMI

We were approached by the multidisciplinary design firm, BCXSY to help with the engineering of a large conceptual clock for the Grand Seiko booth at Design Miami. The challenge was to devise a mechanism by which three “clock” arms could rotate independently through tracks in the ceiling. The solution came in the form of a battery operated trolley from which conceptual clock arms would hang. I designed and programmed the trolleys to keep accurate time, while sustaining the weight and and friction acting on the hanging arms.
